The breakthrough F1 pentas, Butterfly offers an excellent opportunity for growers and gardeners. With its hybrid vigour, Butterfly produces larger flowers and umbels, withstands stressful conditions and shows better garden performance than other commercial seed varieties. Trials show it is about 20% larger than other seed varieties in 4-in. (10-cm) pots. Planted outdoors, Butterfly grows fast and finishes fuller and larger. Finishing with a size comparable to vegetative pentas, Butterfly has quick crop time from plugs/young plants, lower input cost than cuttings and no stock plant maintenance. Large, star-shaped flowers on large umbels up to 3 in. (7 cm) across attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Can be grown and marketed in premium packs and 4 in. (10-cm) pots, up to large containers in warm areas. Flourishes in high heat/humidity. In cooler, more moderate growing areas, Butterfly can be sold as a late Spring/Summer item.
